While welcome, NED deferral is a fig-leaf that doesn’t address industry concerns
Having argued for the exclusion of non-executive directors from the IAF regime entirely, Mason Hayes Curran’s Liam Flynn says the one year deferral of aspects of the IAF for non-executive directors will not make them more comfortable with the increased risk of enforcement proceedings they will face. He adds that the CBI’s ‘sledgehammer’ approach with the IAF will impact disproportionately on cross-border financial services firms and there are signs that Ireland’s standing as an attractive location for IFS business is being undermined by regulation.
