Deals of the Year 2023: New investment supports Exergyn scaling and addresses shareholder tensions

Dublin-based clean technology company Exergyn, which has attracted global attention by developing and patenting an emissions-free heat pump that contains no refrigerant gases, obtained a €30 million investment that enables it to scale its operations in Ireland, the UK and the Czech Republic and addressed shareholder tensions.
The investment came from a consortium of investors comprising the global energy and commodity group Mercuria Energy, family office fund Lacerta Partners and private investment firm McWin Investments.

The investment followed a highly public dispute in 2021 between the company’s executives and a group of some 90 shareholders over the future direction of the company and a possible sale to US heating giant Carrier Global.
