‘Ireland can become British-EU gateway after Brexit' - British Irish Chamber of Commerce
Tuesday 6th July, 2016, 15.15 hrs: The British Irish Chamber of Commerce said that Ireland needs to consider its unique position within the EU and how it can facilitate trade between Britain and the EU post-Brexit. The Chamber said in a statement that Ireland and the UK need to now think about how they can continue trading uninterrupted after Brexit. In considering a deal the Chamber said that Ireland 'can act as a gateway for trade between the UK and the rest of the EU'.
John McGrane, Director General of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce said:

“It’s time to step back and reflect on the Brexit decision in a reasoned manner. Ireland must communicate to investors that we are not only open to business with the rest of our EU partners, but that we will aim to keep those important links with our neighbours in the UK.

“We mustn’t allow ourselves to become blinded in the immediate outcome of the referendum, but consider how we can position Ireland as a key, English-Speaking gateway for trade and investment that links to the UK and the rest of the EU.

“Dublin and Ireland have numerous great locations ready to service UK businesses looking for a reliable base to trade from inside the EU. The Chamber will help both Irish and UK businesses to be best positioned for the uncertainties ahead.

The continued flow of goods and services between the UK and EU would benefit all and Ireland has a potentially important role to play here.”
