Tokio Marine Europe S.A. is a non-life insurance company incorporated in Luxembourg. It is part of Tokio Marine HCC which in turn is a US subsidiary of Tokio Marine Nichida founded in 1879 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
Tokio Marine Europe is a wholly owned subsidiary of HCC International Insurance Company, a UK insurance company, which is part of Tokio Marine's US insurance company HCC Insurance Holdings. Tokio Marine Europe's principal activity is to underwrite non-life insurance and reinsurance business. It underwrites business through its branches in Ireland, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Norway.
In Ireland it formerly operated as HCC International Insurance Company PLC, and commenced business at the start of 1982 as De Montfort Insurance Company plc, providing performance bonds. In the beginning its services concentrated on the construction and engineering industries, however it expanded into different types of surety and guarantee bonds in a broad range of industries and grew into offering credit insurance.
