In 2020 Vitruvian Partners acquired a minority stake in Carne Group. The EUR 100 million investment, a Finance Dublin Deals of the Year Awards 2021 winner, will enable Carne to accelerate the roll-out of its digital asset management platform and ancillary products and services to asset managers globally.

Carne’s distinctive asset management business model has seen a 2017 Kilkenny based expansion and in 2019 it announced plans to grow its workforce by an additional 250 people by 2021. It announced its intentions to recruit 50 staff immediately for a new financial services centre in Wexford and to expand its existing operation in Kilkenny.

In 2022 Carne agreed to acquire The Asset Management Exchange (AMX) from Willis Tower Watson. The deal sees Willis Towers Watson take a minority stake in Carne Group.

Founded in 2004, it is an independent provider of fund management company services in Ireland and a global provider of governance and substance to asset managers. It has around 650 clients, from boutique firms to the majority of the world's 20 largest fund managers - supporting funds distributed in over 160 countries and overseeing more than $2 trillion assets under management. Carne employs more than 600 employees across its eight locations globally.
