Abbey Capital Limited ('Abbey Capital') is an alternative investment firm focused on managed futures and foreign exchange. Founded in 2000, Dublin-based Abbey Capital allocates to the Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) sector through its multi-manager, managed accounts platform.
The investor base of Abbey Capital's funds include pension funds, foundations, endowments, major private banks, multi-family offices and charities, across Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
Abbey Capital is one of the IFSC’s home grown success stories, whose roots go back to the beginnings of the centre, since it was established in April 2000 it has become one of the world’s largest fund of hedge funds allocators.
Abbey Capital operates as a multi-manager or fund-of-fund manager, specialising in managed futures and foreign exchange investments. It monitors approximately 700 CTAs. Founded and managed by Tony Gannon, one of the founders of Allied Irish Capital Management, it is chaired by co-founder Tim Brosnan, one of the founders of Gandon, the first IFSC-certified company, and former Department of Finance civil servant and treasury manager in Citibank.
Abbey Capital's flagship fund is a segregated accounts company which allocates through managed accounts to Commodity Trading Advisors (CTAs). These trading advisors employ different styles and methodologies in a wide range of markets that have historically demonstrated favourable correlation with equities. The flagship fund offers daily liquidity, with no ‘gates’ or ‘lock ups’. In 2025, the firm launched its first ever UCITS fund, the Abbey Capital TrendPlus, broadening its funds offering.
Abbey Capital Limited is incorporated in Ireland and is listed on the Bermuda Stock Exchange and is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. In the USA, Abbey Capital is registered as a Commodity Pool Operator and Commodity Trading Advisor with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), is a member of the National Futures Association (NFA), and is registered as an Investment Advisor with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC).
