Elizabeth is Head of Arthur Cox's Insurance Group and advises a wide range of clients including insurers, reinsurers, intermediates and captives on a broad range of non-contentious insurance and reinsurance transactions and regulatory matters. Elizabeth's practice includes advising on establishment and authorisation, M & A transactions, reorganisations, portfolio transfers, court sanctioned amalgamations and transfers, joint ventures, contractual matters, outsourcing, reinsurance agreements and distribution arrangements. She has extensive experience in providing prudential and regulatory advice, including corporate governance, regulatory capital, conduct of business, cross border activities, product development and regulatory enforcement. Elizabeth is ranked as a leading Individual for Insurance in the Legal 500: EMEA 2018.


In recent years, Elizabeth has been involved in the following transactions:

Advising Swiss Re in its disposal of a minority stake in Reassure to MS & AD
Advising Barclays Bank in its disposal of Barclays Insurance (Dublin) DAC and Barclays Assurance (Dublin) DAC
Acting for Swiss Re's business unit Admin Re on the Irish aspects of its acquisition of Guardian Financial Services for GBP 1.6 billion
Advising Great West on its acquisition of the Irish Life Group
Advising Phoenix on the disposal of Scottish Mutual International Holdings Limited
Advising Exor S.p.A in relation to its $6.9 billion proposed acquisition of PartnerRe Limited
Advising the Armour Group with respect to its €53 million acquisition of Mitsui Sumitomo Reinsurance Limited
