Special Areas:

Aongus advises primarily in the area of asset management and investment funds and has advised on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters. Aongus has particular experience in the structuring, establishment and operation of all types of investment funds including UCITS and alternative investment funds as well as the establishment and operation of UCITS management companies and alternative investment fund managers.

Projects:

Advised an Irish dual authorised UCITS management company and alternative investment fund manager (AIFM) on the establishment of a platform UCITS Irish collective asset management vehicle (ICAV). Advised an Irish authorised AIFM on the establishment of a platform ICAV regulated as a qualified investor alternative investment fund (QIAIF). Advised a large asset manager in relation to the establishment and on-going obligations of their Irish fund range, including UCITS and QIAIFs. Advised a UK AIFM on the establishment of a QIAIF umbrella ICAV. Advised a UK and a US investment manager on the establishment of master-feeder ICAV structures with special purpose vehicles. Advised of the largest post Brexit applications received by the Central Bank of Ireland. Advised a large Australian asset manager on the establishment of their dual authorised UCITS management company and alternative investment fund management company as part of its Brexit strategy. Advised a large global depositary on day-to-day legal and regulatory matters, following receipt of its new depositary licence from the Central Bank of Ireland. Advised a large Scottish asset manager on the establishment of their Irish based AIFM as part of their Brexit strategy.

Career:

Aongus joined the Asset Management and Investment Funds Group in Pinsent Masons in December, 2017. Prior to this, Aongus practiced with a top tier funds practice in Dublin for the previous four years post qualification.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Civil Law, National University of Ireland (First Class Hons); LLM - Commercial Law, University College Dublin; Diploma in Finance Law (Law Society of Ireland).

Memberships:

Law Society of Ireland; Member of the Irish Funds AIF Regulation and AIFMD Reform and ILP Legislative reform working groups.
