Career:

Ed Sibley is the Regulatory Lead Partner for Financial Services consulting in Ireland.

Ed is focused on supporting financial services clients to deliver their strategic business objectives while effectively managing their risks and efficiently meeting regulatory expectations.

Ed is a member of EY's Global Regulatory Network.

Ed has more than 25 years of international experience in the financial services industry.

Prior to joining EY in September 2022, Ed worked for 14 years in financial regulation and supervision in Ireland and the UK.

From 2017 to 2022, Ed was Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Ireland, with responsibility for the effective prudential regulation and supervision of regulated financial services operating in and out of Ireland (including retail and investment banks; insurance firms; investment firms and asset managers; payment and e-money institutions, and credit unions).

Ed was a member of the Supervisory Board of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) and also served on the Board of Supervisors at the European Banking Authority (EBA) and European Insurance and Occupational Insurance Authority (EIOPA); and various domestic and European high level groups and networks.

Ed has a deep understanding of European Financial Services regulation and supervision. He has helped financial services firms deliver
significant improvements in their governance, risk management, resilience, anti-money laundering and conduct over many years.

Ed has also led organisation-wide strategy development and reorganised the Central Bank of Ireland's approach to delivering prudential regulation to improve its focus on data, analytics and technology.

Ed has a strong interest in the rapidly changing financial services landscape. He understands the benefits for all of innovation and is keen to support clients change and grow in a sustainable way.

Ed is focused on understanding clients' business objectives and working with them to find solutions that work within their regulatory context.

Qualifications:

Ed has an MBA from UCD Michael Smurfit Business School and a first class Economics degree. Ed is on the Board of ALONE, an Irish charity working with all older people, including those who are lonely, isolated, frail or ill, homeless, living in poverty, or are facing other difficulties.
