Brian is Principal of Atlantic Vantage, since July '18, providing advisory services focused on governance, risk management and strategy formulation mainly in the financial services area.

As Director, Traded Markets, Development, Operations (a joint COO/CFO brief) was responsible for the integrity, efficiency and development of the Irish Stock Exchange's markets for its traded securities. For 20 years he oversaw the Exchange's overall operations, finance, risk management and managed the relationships with strategic partners as well as being responsible for the Exchange's IT strategy. He was a member of the Executive Committee and as Company Secretary, to the Group and to subsidiary Boards, has proactively and successfully managed a diverse stakeholder base, from shareholders to regulatory authorities.

He was central to the transaction process which culminated in the successful sale of the Exchange to Euronext N.V. and was responsible for the timely completion of all aspects of the transaction in March '18. Within Euronext Group his role as Director, Traded Markets and Special Projects was focused on the integration of the Exchange within one of Europe's best rated market operators.

He is also an experienced and effective non-executive director in the financial services, insurance and state sectors. Key external roles include Chairmanship of the cross-industry Irish Market Advisory Committee of Euroclear Group Plc and being non-executive director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Irish Investor Compensation Company. Has recently also completed a term as an INED and Chair of the Audit Committee of Beaumont Hospital, one of Ireland's leading acute hospitals.

He is an advocate for the overall competitiveness and efficiency of Ireland's capital markets and has been an active participant in the development of securities law and market infrastructure in Europe. He has an extensive network of regulatory contacts and long experience of dealing at the highest level with customers, market operators, European regulatory authorities and with various Governmental bodies. He speaks extensively at international conferences on matters relating to exchange strategy, business model innovation and product/service development.

He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, having worked for 8 years with Arthur Andersen. Also a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and is an Accredited Mediator. In addition he undertakes pro-bono work in the charity sector, is a keen sailor and is a student of Italian.
