Liam Flynn

Partner, Financial Services and Head of Corporate and Regulatory Insurance
Matheson Ormsby Prentice
Liam is a partner in the Banking and Financial Services Department and is head of Corporate and Regulatory Insurance at Matheson Ormsby Prentice. Liam focuses on corporate, commercial and regulatory insurance and reinsurance matters, including alternative risk transfer and insurance structured financing. He has advised some of the world’s largest insurers and reinsurers, and major investment banks, on mergers and acquisitions in the insurance industry, group reorganisations and the establishment of new insurance and reinsurance operations, as well as on day to day regulatory matters. He has worked on developing innovative financing structures with insurance and reinsurance aspects, including life reinsurance financings and structured derivative transactions. He has also advised on the distribution of insurance via the internet. He has lectured, among others, to the Insurance Institute of Ireland, the International Underwriting Association and the Insurance Directorate of the Ministry of Finance of Turkey. He lectures to the Law Society of Ireland on insurance regulation, has written extensively for legal and industry journals and is a regular conference speaker.
