Speaker Biography

Deirdre Somers

Director of Listing
Irish Stock Exchange and Chair, Irish Securitisation Forum
Deirdre Somers is Director of Listing at the Irish Stock Exchange (ISE) with responsibility for equity, debt and investment fund listings. She participated on the EU Council working groups on the drafting of the Prospectus and Transparency Directives as the Irish Government expert and advised on the primary market aspects of the Market Abuse and Markets in Financial Instruments Directives. She worked with the Irish Regulator on the Committee of European Securities Regulators work on prospectus disclosure, chairing subgroups on ABS and investment funds. She is a Member of the Irish Company Law Review Group and co-chair of the Plc Committee of CLRG which has, interalia, responsibility for oversight of the implementation of EU Directives into Irish company law. In 2005, she was appointed as Chairman of the Irish Securitisation Forum. A chartered accountant by profession, prior to joining the ISE in 1995, she specialised in international tax with KPMG.
