Innotribe conference on mobile technology for financial services held in Belfast
Innotribe, the innovation division of SWIFT, held its EMEA Start-up Challenge and Conference at Titanic House Belfast on the 13th and 14th of June.

The two-day event, supported by Invest NI, brought together executives from banks, carriers and mobile devices, platform and service providers and local and international entrepreneurs to explore the ways in which mobile technology is enabling greater financial inclusion. The format of this event was a 'structured un-conference' and featured the EMEA leg of the Innotribe Start-Up Challenge.

Prior to the conference Innotribe held a workshop on on the EMEA Innotribe Start-Up Challenge delivered by Matteo Rizzi, Innovation Manager at SWIFT, at Invest NI's Headquarters in Belfast in April, and following that, entries for the challenge opened.

The Innotribe Start-up Challenge is for early stage and later stage start-up companies that can demonstrate the potential to deliver significant sustaining or disruptive innovation to the global financial industry. Up to ten semi finalists from the early stage category and five semi finalists from the later stage category had the opportunity to present to a group of senior executives from financial services, technology and venture capital firms.

A winner from each category will attend and present at the final competition held during the flagship SWIFT Sibos conference in Osaka at the end of October. The primary benefit for entrants is the opportunity to engage with an influential community of potential funders and customers who are themselves committed to developing business led innovation within financial services and to gain profile for their products and services.
