Deborah specialises in investment funds and asset management regulation as well as specialised financial services regulatory matters. Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Deborah held the position of EMEA Head of Legal for Depositary and Global Fund Services in Citibank Europe plc ("Citi"), advising on a wide range of financial services regulatory matters including BREXIT, GDPR, CRD IV, MIFID II, PSD, Benchmarks UCITS and AIFMD. Deborah has extensive industry advocacy experience and frequently advises on complex regulatory implementation issues at a European and domestic level. Prior to joining Citi Deborah worked in the investment funds and asset management practice of one of Ireland's leading law firms.

Deborah's specialism includes advising on Irish authorisation/structuring / establishment issues related to UCITS/AIF, management companies, investment managers/advisers, depositaries and fund administrators. Deborah has extensive experience advising those funds, management companies and services providers more broadly on distribution and marketing related issues, payment services, compliance and corporate governance requirements, ESG, AML, and other regulatory requirements. In addition to extensive experience advising on UCITS related matters, Deborah also advises on alternative investments including all aspects of AIFMD as well as hedge funds, property funds, Shariah funds, ESG funds, private equity funds, loan funds and fund formation. Deborah regularly works with innovators to bring new products and solutions to market and her specialism includes advising fintech, blockchain, and cryptocurrency firms.

Deborah is recognised as a thought leader in the market and as a leading lawyer in Europe for Financial and Regulatory Services, by ILO/ACC and in Ireland in the Legal 500.
