Special Areas:

Cormac is a partner and head of the firm's Finance Group. He advises on a full range of capital markets, structured finance, cross-border financing and related issues. Cormac has advised on the securitisation of a wide variety of asset classes, acting for both domestic and international clients, as well as on the establishment of covered bond programmes. He also advises on a broad range of debt capital markets transactions including corporate and high-yield bonds, medium term note and commercial paper programmes, tier 1 and other hybrid-type securities. He also advises international lenders and Irish borrowers on cross border financing transactions in particular as regards asset backed-lending. Recently he has advised sellers and buyers of portfolios of loans backed by residential and commercial properties and financial institutions providing funding backed by portfolios of loans.

Recent transactions include advising:

- Blackstone on the acquisition from NAMA of the Project Tower portfolio, a €1.8 billion portfolio of commercial property loans
- eir on a high yield bond and leveraged loan refinancing
- a number of purchasers of distressed commercial loans from NAMA and other entities
- a major international investment managed on the establishment of a European CLO
- the arrangers of a mortgage securitisation by Irish mortgage lender Permanent TSB
- the dealers on numerous covered bond transactions by Bank of Ireland and AIB

Publications:

Author of the ‘Ireland’ chapter of the book: “Securitizations: Legal and Regulatory Issues” (Law Journal Press, New York), which covers 21 jurisdictions worldwide.
