Brian joined Grant Thornton in 2019 and leads the firm's Financial Service Tax Practice.
Brian has extensive experience in advising clients with regard to capital market transactions, cross border structured finance transactions, securitisation (including aviation) deals, structuring acquisitions, disposal of business assets, restructuring of group operations, cross border lending/financing, determining appropriate fund structure and domicile from a regulatory and tax perspective, International tax planning and the impact of OCED, EU and other international developments.

Brian provides tax compliance and tax consultancy services to a diverse range of clients in the Financial Services sector, including domestic and international banks, asset managers, arrangers, treasury operations, and other groups in the Financial Services sector.
Brian is responsible for the timely delivery of the corporation tax compliance obligations of groups with operations spanning both the domestic and international markets. He currently leads the local team that has responsibility for the annual tax filing reporting obligations of a large portfolio of Irish entities.
Brian has joined the firm to add his significant experience to a growing financial services offering. Brian’s expertise will complement the existing tax teams offering and he will work closely with both the Financial Services Audit practice and the Financial Service Advisory offering which has significant capabilities in regulatory reporting, business risk services and financial consulting.
Brian is working closely with colleagues in the wider Grant Thornton international network and a considerable part of his role is in liaising with overseas colleagues to assist large groups within the financial services sector to structure investment products and manage their global tax requirements in as efficient a manner as possible.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton Brian spend over 15 years with a Big 4 firm where he worked within the tax team for 10 years, 7.5 of which were spent in the Financial Services tax team and 2.5 years on secondment in the US where he represented the Irish firm as Irish tax desk leader. Prior to this he worked within the Asset and Wealth Management Assurance team for 5 years.
