David has over 15 years of experience of advising high profile clients in the Financial Services industry on both advisory and transactional matters. Advising a broad client base across the financial services sector, David specialises in fund structuring, formation and investment work for investors and fund managers, as well as asset management advisory work including regulation. As well as specific financial services sector expertise, David's experience extends to funds operating in the infrastructure, energy, private equity and real estate sectors.

Projects:

David's projects of note include:

- advising a large UK institutional investor on the establishment of a cStg250m investment structure for the acquisition and pooling of lifetime mortgage investments including outsourced origination and management arrangements;
- advising a large UK asset manager on the successful establishment of Stg440m fund structure (including raising capital from numerous investors from the UK, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland and Canada) and putting in place a significant debt facility to support the fund's activities;
- advising a large Scottish asset manager on its private equity investment programme and the completion of hundreds of direct and secondary investments in private equity funds and participation in complex pan European co-investment structures over the past 15 years; advising on numerous co-investment and "fund of one" structures; and
- establishing over 20 infrastructure investment vehicles over the last 18 months raising over Stg2.5bn in commitments from institutional investors in many jurisdictions including the Republic of Korea.

Career:

David joined Pinsent Masons in 2017 from Maclay Murray & Spens where he headed up the Financial Services practice in Scotland. He also established and has been the firm's lead partner in the alternative fund practice since 2009. He began his career as a private equity lawyer before focusing purely on the financial services sector. Since specialising in this area, David had worked with leading financial services institutions for many years and has been involved in a wide range of high profile fund launches and transactions. David is ranked in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.
