Joe is a partner and Head of ByrneWallace's Financial Services Group.

With over 30 years' financial services experience in Ireland, Europe and the United States, Joseph advises clients on a broad range of regulatory and compliance issues which may affect their business. His expertise ranges from setting up funds to debt structures, advising on creditors' rights to coordinating high court applications, structuring to restructurings and enforcements including liquidations.

Joe's clients include institutions and businesses which operate in the financial services sector.

He is also a well-known practitioner in the field of international financial services and has advised several major institutions on Irish law relating to investment funds, hedge funds, debt structures, EU Financial Directives and secured lending transactions.

Career:

Joe joined ByrneWallace in April 2015. Between 2010 and 2015, Joseph acted as General Counsel and chief legal adviser to the Governor and the Central Bank of Ireland, where he was responsible a number of projects including coordinating the resolution and liquidation of IBRC (Anglo), the negotiation of the Bank's mandate on the EU/IMF/ECB Troika programme, establishment of the ECB as the Single Banking Regulator, and legislation and court applications aimed at stabilising the Irish Banking Sector.

Joe previously held senior positions within a leading Dublin law firm where he established and developed the firm's financial services practice. Joe is also a well-known practitioner in the field of regulated financial services and has advised several major institutions on Irish law relating to Irish and EU laws on the provision of regulated financial services.
