Sheila leads Grant Thornton's Business Risk Services team which provides risk, assurance and compliance advisory services to a wide variety of financial services and corporate clients. Her area of responsibility includes internal audit, risk assurance, regulatory and compliance advisory services. Her clients include retail and international banks, insurance, asset management, Fintech and large corporates. She has successfully led and delivered regulatory, compliance and risk assurance projects in the following areas:
-data privacy;
-conduct and culture risk;
-corporate governance and ethics;
-internal audit and assurance;
-compliance, risk and regulatory reviews; and
-compliance advice and training.


Sheila has led a number of regulatory, compliance and risk advisory projects for a variety of large financial services and corporate clients. She has also managed a number of projects on behalf of the Central Bank of Ireland including a Skilled Peron's Review and a series of outsourced inspections and independent external reviews focussing on governance, board effectiveness, conduct risk, and AML/CTF. She has advised on the development of regulatory and supervisory policy in the credit union sector.


Sheila is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (TCD) where she obtained a Bachelor in Law (LL.B), and is a business graduate from University College of Dublin (UCD) where she obtained a Diploma in Business Studies (DBS). Sheila also holds a Masters in compliance (MSc) from UCD.


She is a Fellow of the Institute of Banking and Association of Compliance Officers of Ireland (ACOI) and is designated FIB and FCOI. She is a member of the Business Advisory Council of the Insurance Ireland.
