In 2000 , having been litigation partner of a large Dublin firm, Kieran set up a niche practice specializing in business litigation with emphasis on Media law, the first specialised media law practice in Ireland. After 19 years in business, the practice merged with FOD, with the business continuing to grow as these areas of law get more complex.
The practice handles defamation issues, both pre and post publication and broadcast, privacy, confidentiality, internet, regulatory and intellectual property issues. Kieran represents and advises the largest media organisations on the island of Ireland, and are instructed by national and regional newspaper industry, magazine publishers, online news providers, all the major book publishing houses, and video producers. Kieran has been involved in commercial litigation in all the Superior Courts. Almost uniquely in the profession, Kieran has represented the interest of clients before every statutory Tribunal of Investigation held in the State since 1991. Kieran has lectured the ICAI on the restriction of directors under Companies Acts and have acted in many company insolvency cases in Circuit and High Courts.
