Mark C. Hutchinson is Professor and Chair of Finance at Cork University Business School, University College Cork. He is currently Head of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems (AFIS), which is amongst the largest academic departments in the university. AFIS offers BSc Finance, BSc Accounting and BSc Business Information Systems undergraduate degrees and a full suite of postgraduate programmes in Accounting, Finance and Business Information Systems to over 1,000 full time students. He has been at UCC since 2002 where he is also Deputy Head of the Business School and Co-Director of the Centre for Investment Research. In 2007 Prof Hutchinson founded the Centre for Investment Research with researchers at CASS Business School, DCU and University College Cork (Dr Niall O'Sullivan, School of Economics). This centre focuses on researching mutual funds, hedge funds and trading strategies. Professor Hutchinson is the leading finance academic in Ireland for research funding, being a leading expert in the combination of finance and technology. He regularly presents his research throughout Europe and the US and has published widely on trading and hedge funds in international academic and practitioner journals. He was appointed Professor at University College Cork in 2013. He currently sits on the curriculum development committee of the CAIA Association in the US and is an external examiner at UCD, in Dublin.
