In 1975, a referendum on Britain’s continued membership of the EEC was passed by 67% to 33% and saw Britain remain in the EEC on renegotiated terms. With time now running out on the 2 year countdown triggered by Article 50, the current state of affairs may seem crazy to many, but Britain is still struggling to find even one way to leave the EU that is palatable to all.
