Expanding the retail investor market

In this issue of the Finance Dublin Funds Monitor our roundtable panel analyse the distribution landscape, how digitalisation is changing the open architecture distribution model and the successful strategies that drive better outcomes for investors. These fund platforms are helping to meet demand from new demographies that prefer to invest directly and, with Europe behind the US in this direct-to-investor model, further robust growth is expected in this space.

The individual investor is also seeing the universe of products expand, with retail access to alternatives growing. Many asset managers, primarily active in the traditional space, are increasingly interested in launching alternative products, especially around private equity, which in turn is broadening manager client base while increasing retail investor access to private markets.

The deployment of data analytics across the asset management industry also features, enabling managers to extract greater value from their data - giving them the tools to hone and create strategies, make faster decisions and improve their processes, in areas such as ESG screening.

With the next deadline for EU SFDR approaching fast, the incoming requirements are analysed, as are the new requirements the EU’s DORA places on financial services players.
