Deals of the Year 2025: AIB gets the highest ever order book by an Irish borrower with $7.2 billion orders for its $1 billion MREL debt issuance

The 11 year bond is the longest ever duration bond issued by an Irish borrower and uniquely was also involved Diversity and Inclusion brokers as lead managers, providing under represented group with the opportunity to invest in the bond issue.
The winner of the Debt Capital Markets MREL Eligible Debt Issuance is AIB’s record breaking $1 billion March 2024 issuance. AIB formally launched the transaction, an 11 year Senior Non Preferred debt (callable after 10 years) with an Initial Price Talk of US Treasuries (UST) plus 1.90%. Investor interest in the transaction built quickly, reaching $1.75bn within an hour, and peaking at over $7.5bn by late morning.
