Under the new ownership Strong Roots will operate as a distinct business, with Sam Dennigan - who founded the company in 2015 - working alongside the McCain team to propel further portfolio innovation and brand growth.
The winner of the M&A Acquisition: Agribusiness, Mid Market Deal of the Year is McCain Food’s acquisition of Strong Roots. After first buying a minority stake in 2021, in April 2024 the Canadian multinational frozen foods company McCain Foods acquired the remaining shares in Strong Roots, the Irish manufacturer of sustainably-sourced vegan frozen foods supplied to a range of multiples in Ireland, the UK and the US.
