FinanceDublin.com - <b>Deals of the Year 2025: </b>Acquisition of Castlelake Aviation adds scale and boosts earnings growth for Avolon

The largest deal in the aircraft leasing sector in 2024 will accelerate Avolon’s earnings growth and build out its fleet at attractive yields, while maintaining its balance sheet metrics within investment grade target ranges. Since the closing of the deal the lessor has had its credit rating upgraded by Fitch and Moody’s.

The winner of the M&A Outward FDI Investment is Avolon’s acquisition of Castlelake Aviation Limited. This was the largest deal in the aircraft leasing sector in 2024 and a significant acquisition for Avolon which added a large portfolio of complementary aircraft assets to its existing portfolio. The assets acquired comprised 105 aircraft, 2 engines and 13 aircraft commitments. The average age of the aircraft acquired was 4.7 years, with 70% invested in new technology aircraft.
