Reeves says ‘regulation has gone too far’ in Mansion House speech
Having delivered the UK Labour party’s first budget on 30th October the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves laid out the new UK administration’s vision for the financial services sector at the annual Mansion House address in Guildhall of the City of London on 14th November, an event that marked the ending of the term of office as Mayor of Michael Mainelli, a former international consultant of IDA Ireland on IFS. The Mansion House speech is an annual address delivered by the sitting UK Chancellor and while Reeves’ major focus was on reforms of local government pension schemes to drive private investment in UK companies she also spoke of an intention to ‘rebalance’ the approach to FS regulation and to publish a ‘Financial Services Growth and Competitiveness Strategy’.
