Financial Services Regulation Review in the ‘election year’ of 2024
As the EU begins a new political cycle after the June 2024 elections and we digest the impact of elections in our two closest neighbours, and prepare for elections in Ireland and the USA, it is a moment to assess the potential implications for Ireland’s FS industry. Already, change is signalled at EU level as a result of the EU elections - one indication being that re-elected Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (with Green party votes) has already signalled that the focus of the EU Green Deal would switch to implementing existing laws rather than passing new ones. We commissioned a group of thought leaders in the Irish industry to provide their perspectives on how the existing agenda is likely to be implemented, and to reflect on how it might change and evolve in the critical months to come.
