This resulted in the emergence of an aviation loan ABS combining the best features of traditional aircraft ABS with collateralised loan obligation technology - a welcome development for aviation investors.

APL Finance 2023-1 was one of the most significant aviation sector capital markets transactions of the year. The inaugural aviation loan asset-backed securitisation for Ashland Place Finance LLC (Ashland Place), it was also the first aviation loan securitisation by a loan origination platform and only the third securitisation in the aviation market since 2022.
