Former Head of Treasury
Dermot has been a business unit leader in IFSC based financial institutions for almost 20 years. He was previously a Head of Treasury at Aareal Bank AG, Dublin Branch with responsibility for managing the assets and liabilities of the Branch. Prior to this, he was Head of Banking at Bankgesellschaft Berlin (Ireland) plc. Dermot has specialised in structured finance but also has considerable experience in other forms of lending, both secured and unsecured. As well as being a founding member of the Irish Securitisation Forum he was also a Chairman of its Investor and Issuer Sub-Group. More recently he was a founding member of the Irish Securitisation Working Group which was established to provide a 'whole' industry input into the Securitisation Regulation and ensure that there was a significant Irish input into the process. Dermot has also been on numerous public and private sector industry bodies and groups to provide input into areas related to structured funding. He was the securitisation representative on the and IFSC Banking & Treasury Committee, which was a sub-committee of the Clearing House Group under the auspices of the Department of An Taoiseach. from 2007 to 2013. He also has extensive involvement in lecturing, training and mentoring as well presenting at conferences and writing articles. He is currently a temporary Part-time Lecturer, UCD School of Business where he lectures on Aircraft Finance.
